How to make adding a record to a detail mandatory for a specific stage in Opportunity DCM

Hi Everyone! 

I have a use case where I need to make adding a record to a detail mandatory for a specific stage in Opportunity DCM. Would anyone know how to implement it? Is there any differences between Classic and FUI? Can it be done through Validation? 

Any suggestions welcome!
