Does anyone know if the new Calculated Metrics feature using custom formulas released in 8.3.4 will be coming to other chart types too? This is a very useful and long overdue ability, but currently seems to only be possible to use with single number displaying metric widgets. The roadmap item is titled "Formulas in widgets" and is marked as being released, but is very much incomplete without being able to use formulas in other widgets like bar & line charts.

It is a very long awaited feature indeed.

Have you been able to make it filterable with page data ?

The capability is very useful when using the dashboard toggle on list pages, with data in the dashboards adapting to the filters on the list.

It seems calculated metrics with formulas do not have the capabilities yet, or did I miss something ?

Thanks

Damien Collot,

In 8.3.4 I can add the metric widget and use a custom formula instead of just counting/summing etc over a single column. It can also have filtering applied based on page data (page params and/or lists that have other filters applied to them can be automatically applied to any of the individual metric formula inputs) and you can apply Quick Filters to individual elements of the formula too (e.g. just on the first count of Cases) though this can only be done via the Quick Filter's settings currently (not in the metric's options).

When adding a metric widget, you can select the Formula function, and then from there change the formula, where you get the UI that looks like in the OP.

Then when you add something to the formula like a count or sum of an object/column, you can click on the "button" in the purple representing the object/column, and in there you can apply filters including page data ones.

Giving you this:

But none of this I can see a way to apply to charts, only the metric widget.

Harvey Adcock,

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

The current implementation of custom formulas (Calculated Metrics) in Freedom UI Analytics only supports single-value metric widgets. Support for other widget types, such as bar and line charts, is not yet available.

We've registered this as a separate idea for our R&D team, so that the ability to use custom formulas can be extended to bar/line charts and other widget types in future releases.

We don't have a specific timeline to share at this point, but we'll make sure this request is taken into account as the "Formulas in widgets" functionality continues to develop.

Thanks again for your patience and for helping make Creatio better!
