When I add a button to the Account page in FreedomUI and open the AccountAddress page via the AccountId link, it does not work properly in freedom UI i.e the address page loads with no data.
Is there a better way to open a specific account address(such as the account's primary address) via a button on the Account page?

If your goal is to get a page to open up upon clicking a certain button on a record all you have to do is create a button and fill its function in a similar way as a business process parameter, here is how I did it on my demo for State/Providence:
A button can also do different actions depending on your needs, maybe you want a run a business process that would automatically input the needed values into your new record.
