I'm now setting up bulk emails in my system and I don't understand what is the difference between domain verification and email confirmation. What do I need to do in order for my emails to be sent correctly?

To be able to send the bulk emails, you need first to confirm your email, then you can verify your domain to increase the deliverability.

To send the bulk emails from the system you need to verify the domain the emails will be sent from as well as every email address you are going to use as a sender email address. Moreover, the email address confirmation is the part of the domain verification process. Once all the settings described in the Academy article are made, you'll need to confirm at least one email address to proceed.
