How is the flag 'New Customer' set in Opportunity ? What is the logic of setting /unsetting this flag ?
How can we update the logic based on our business sense.

The flag can be turned on the opportunity details tab http://prntscr.com/nv7ckd
It is useful when analyzing the number of new or existing customers. It's main purpose is to indicate whether it is the first or the existing customer sale. This flag also helps when analyzing the opportunity strategy or sale tactics. Basically, it doesn't influence the business logic of the opportunity and used reference only. As for the logic, it can have vast scope of usage, for example in business processes or business rules.
