Question

What exactly does "restore packages from backup" do when a package fails to install?

When you install a package that fails to install without errors, you get the following message:

Just curious, what specifically does the "restore packages from backup" option do? Can someone provide the details on what exactly is happening when that is clicked?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

It restores the schemas and entities that are updated with a package. For example, if you are installing the package with CasePage that updates the existing one, you will be able to restore the original CasePage schema.

It may be useless since it doesn't restore the connections with other if your package updates them. It is recommended to install the packages through the support team since we make backup prior the package installation. When something goes wrong we can easily restore the website to the state before the installation without any data loss.

That makes sense. Thanks for the response Dean.
