Required field

As an example I took the field "Industry" in Accounts. To make it required you need to go to Tools->Configuration and select the object "Account". Then on the left handside you need to select the column you wish to make required (Industry in my case) and after clicking on it you will see its properties on the right handside. There is a field "required" which has to be set to "Application level". After publishing this field will become required.
